The FLORIS Traditions

Tradition One: Unity in Flourishing

FLORIS has one primary purpose: to explore, practice, and support human flourishing in our own lives and with one another. Everything we do—our Practical Flourishing Assessment sessions, adventures, and creative projects—are to support our members, and those we come in contact with, feel more alive, connected, and flourishing.

In FLORIS spaces, members commit to:

  • Show up in good faith, with curiosity, care, and respect.

  • Prioritize the wellbeing of the community over personal ego, status, or “being right.”

When in doubt, we ask: “Does this support flourishing for me and for us — for our FLORIS collective?” If the answer is no, we pause, recalibrate, and let it go.

Tradition Two: No Outside Issues or Controversy

FLORIS exists to unify members around practicing personal human flourishing—not to debate the news, campaign for causes, or litigate warring opinions. To protect this sanctuary of focus and connection, FLORIS takes no official position on outside issues such as politics, public policy, elections, or advocacy campaigns.

In practical terms, this means:

  • FLORIS gatherings, channels, and events are not used for political persuasion, lobbying, or organizing around external causes, no matter how important they may be elsewhere.

  • Members agree not to use FLORIS spaces to argue or fight about partisan topics, recruit for movements, or pressure others to adopt specific external positions.

Members are, of course, whole humans with deep convictions who participate in the wider world. FLORIS simply asks that those conversations and campaigns live outside FLORIS spaces, so that inside FLORIS we can keep our shared attention on one thing: learning, adventuring, and growing in our own flourishing, together.

Tradition Three: We Tend To Our Own Flourishing

We do not give unsolicited advice or coach each other, except when advice or ideas are explicitly requested. We take responsibility for our own lives and our own flourishing.

We speak from our own experience, using "I" instead of "you," and we refrain from solving others' challenges for them. We trust in each person's capacity to find their own way. When we want input, we ask for it — we are a YES to "crowd-sourcing wisdom!" By tending to our own flourishing, we create the space for others to do the same.
